Choctaw-Apache Tribe of Ebarb Celebrates Veterans Day

A large group of Hogg Wild Motorcycle riders and families along with local veterans and tribal council members were welcomed to the tribal office on Saturday November 8, 2008 at 9:00 a.m.

Tribal Chairman, John W. Procell and council members Doug Laroux, Virginia Malmay, Yvonne Busby, Joanne Sepeda, Pat Ebarb, Joy Stewart, and Ione Procell Durr welcomed the large group and organized a delicious meal for everyone’s enjoyment.

The Hog Wild Motorcycle Riders attended the celebration to make a special presentation to the tribe in the amount of four thousand dollars. The donation is for a veteran’s memorial monument and flag poles on the tribal office grounds in Ebarb. The wall will be 3 foot wide and six feet tall and will list the Choctaw-Apache members who died in World War I & II, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam, the Iran and Afghanistan Wars. The wall will be made of granite. Along with the wall, four flag poles will be erected. The group raised the funds this past summer at Hog Wild on the Bend, their annual fundraiser.

Tribal CIVR representative, Amelia Bison was on hand to help the local Native American veterans. Veterans in attendance were Charles Castillo, Michael LeRoy, Jerry Ray, Billy Wayne Sepeda, Freddie Parrie, Tim Dennett, Harold Williams, John W. Procell, Gary “Pie” Laroux, and E. John Rogers.

The Hogg Wild Riders also distributed flyers for their upcoming Sabine Parish Toys for Tots Run on December 6. Everyone is welcome to bring an unwrapped toy by the tribal office for distribution.
