Minutes
July 12, 2009
6:30 P.M.
The Choctaw Apache Tribal Council met on July 12, 2009, at 6:30 P.M. at the Tribal Office. The following members were present:

Doug Laroux Christopher Rivers
Susan Lee Joanne Sepeda
Absent: Ione Durr & Joy Stewart
Tribal-Chairman John Procell called the meeting to order.
The invocation was given by Doug Laroux.
On a motion by Joanne Sepeda, with a second by Susan Lee, the minutes from the June meeting were approved.
Each member was given a copy of the Treasurer’s Report, an end-of-year Fiscal Report and a letter from Debbie Tadlock from Weyerhaeuser concerning a grant she has requested for the Tribe. On a motion by Susan, with a second by Doug, the Treasurer’s Report was approved. The Council will look over the end-of-year report and address it at the next meeting.
The Council will participate in the Tamale Fiesta this year. Joy Stewart & Yvonne Busby will present a children’s workshop on Friday’s “Education Day” and Project Venture will enter a float in the Fiesta Parade. The Council will work toward a demonstration for next year’s Fiesta.
Joanne Sepeda reported that the Fourth of July Cake Sale made $400.00 for the Tribe and that a garage sale is scheduled for Friday & Saturday, July 31st & August 1st at the Tribal Office. All donations will be appreciated.
Virginia will continue to look into membership issue.
The problems with the Tribal E-mail have been taken care of.
Yvonne will attend the Tobacco Grant Workshop on July 13th, 14th, & 15th in Lafayette.
Doug Laroux gave a copy of the Tribe’s Constitution to each member. He emphasized that as we pursue federal recognition, the Tribe must emphasize our Indian Heritage. A meeting with investors was set for July 16th at 6:00 p.m. at the Tribal Office. The Council members will bring food.
Joanne Sepeda reported that she attended the July 10th Project Venture meeting and that it was excellent.
Susan Lee reported that the Rising Sun Youth Group will meet on August 8th, at 4:00 p.m. at the Tribal Office.
Doug gave a brief report on the La. Indian Education Grant. He stated that there is money available and that students should be encouraged to apply for the grant.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
